In order to have a smooth Valentine’s weekend date… it can be a wise decision to eat out. However, making a trip to a restaurant that feels like you’re speed dating is not romantic. So take our advice and try these favourites of ours for a cosy dinner date in London any time of year.
Hakkasan
This restaurant has two locations in London, both very highly rated for their excellent Cantonese food and fresh ingredients. The Hanway Place restaurant (first to open) boasts an open kitchen so you can marvel at the culinary process. The best thing about Hakkasan’s menus, is that it allows you to choose lots of dishes to share and try new flavours together.
Berners Tavern
Its award winning interiors should be enough to tempt you and your date here. A beautiful gallery of pictures and stunning chandeliers make for an oh-so flattering light. The chef is of course Michelin starred and the bar poses a great place to break the ice with the signature cocktail, “Room With A View”. Here, we couldn’t agree more!
Clos Maggiore
Based in Covent Garden, this restaurant promises an “unforgettable experience”. Bringing beautiful foliage décor into their romantic conservatory and roaring fires later in the year, it creates a cosy atmosphere. The menu serves Provençal-inspired dishes, including the choice of a 5 course tasting menu and set menu, alongside a wine list with an enormous 2500 options!
La Chapelle
Situated underneath a magnificent refurbished church ceiling, this restaurant is run by the Galvin brothers – both highly acclaimed chefs. The menu looks to serve fine French dishes using seasonal produce, including lavish dishes such as langoustine tartare. A highlight is the option for Dining Experiences including a seven course tasting menu with wine pairing – who could resist?
Bob Bob Ricard
Featured in Time Out being described as one of the most fun restaurants to eat at – think 1920s deco style and tables at booths. The feature you’re most likely to remember (or soon forget!) is the adorable little button at the table labelled ‘Press For Champagne’. The food is quirky with a mix of English and Russian classics with a twist.
We recommend the Lobster Burger with Crayfish Cocktail – which of the two gorgeous dining rooms you end up eating it in, that’ll be a surprise.
